Welcome to the University of Chicago Alumni Club of Mid-Florida’s page.
As the new president of the club, I hope to continue – with all of your help – the solid tradition of programming that started under our first president, Dani Kaufmann, AM ’69, and continued under our following presidents Deanna Bennett, AB ’67, and Ron Hammerle, THM ’68, DMN ’69.
My husband Jim, AB ’80, and I have been members of the club since its inception in 1999. We met on the Quad, and our youngest son graduated from UChicago in 2013, so we’re a real UChicago family.
For 16 years we’ve been one of the most active mid-size clubs, trying to replicate the mood of intellectual inquiry fostered on the Quad by the Common Core. Among other things, we’ve coordinated talks, book clubs, tours of the Gulf’s sea life and Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, theater talkbacks and, of course, our signature event, the UnCommon Core –Mid-Florida Style.
Our events are for all alums, family and friends, and we hope that we will see you at many of them. We’re always looking for kindred spirits to help us plan events.
Please watch your email and this site for more details and how to RSVP for these events:
March 4: Frida Kahlo exhibit tour at the Dali
